Inkwell ("we," "our," or "us") is a daily creative prompt app for writers and visual artists. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We take your privacy seriously and aim to collect as little data as necessary to operate the app.
By using Inkwell, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Creative preferences you set during onboarding (creative type, genres, mediums, themes, direction level)
- Prompts you mark as favorites
- In-app purchase records (processed by Google Play — we do not handle payment details directly)
We do not collect your name, email address, or any account credentials unless you explicitly provide them for support purposes.
How We Use Your Information
- To generate and personalize your daily creative prompts
- To save your prompt history and favorites locally on your device
- To power AI-generated prompts for Inkwell Pro subscribers
- To send daily push notifications (only if you grant permission)
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.
AI-Powered Prompts (Inkwell Pro)
If you subscribe to Inkwell Pro, your creative preferences (type, genres, mediums, and themes) are sent to an AI model to generate personalized prompts. Requests are routed through a Cloudflare Worker to the Anthropic API. This data is transmitted securely and is used solely to generate your prompt.
No personally identifying information is included in AI requests — only your creative preferences.
Data Storage
Your prompt history and preferences are stored locally on your device. We do not operate a backend server that stores your personal data in a database tied to your identity.
If you uninstall the app, all locally stored data is deleted from your device.
Third-Party Services
Inkwell uses the following third-party service:
- Google Play Billing — handles all in-app purchase transactions. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic (via Cloudflare Worker) — Pro subscribers' creative preferences are sent to the Anthropic API to generate prompts. No identifying information is included. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Push Notifications
Inkwell can send a daily notification reminding you to collect your prompt. You control this permission through your device's notification settings. You can disable notifications at any time without affecting your ability to use the app.
Children's Privacy
Inkwell is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Your Rights and Choices
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it:
- Delete your data: Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored preferences and history.
- Notification preferences: Manage through your device's Settings app.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA. Please contact us to exercise those rights.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will provide a notice within the app. Your continued use of Inkwell after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
